ASHA was appointed to work with Ashburton Investment Managers in 2007. I came along for a 2 week work placement with the company in September 2009. ASHA had began work on the Japanese equity fund for Ashburton within my second week. My first task on this project was to decide on what should represent this equity fund. Of the 2 others I worked with we all came to a unanimous decision to create the Crane bird, as the Japanese regard the crane as a symbol of good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years. Once decided I began work on bringing the bird to life, and managed to complete the bird in my last day with the company. If you click on the image to your left you will see the illustration and what it was awarded.
The illustration communicated the fact that although Ashburton uses the same component parts as any other investment house, they are able to create unique funds. An animation was created of this illustration. This along with the animation of the bird were awarded Gold in the 2009 Cream awards.
